Siegfried Reinhardt
Ad Reinhardt by Michael Corris, X In this book, Michael Corris offers a comprehensive account of the life and work of the American artist Ad Reinhardt (1913-1967). He not only reexamines Reinhardt's wide-ranging artistic and critical output, but also looks at his beliefs in relation to the American Communist movement and other political organizations on the left. The book contains a wealth of new research on Reinhardt, including previously unpublished illustrations of his paintings, cartoons, and installations, as well as excerpts from his writings. Reinhardt's practices of the 1950s and '60s are reconsidered in the light of the political, social, and cultural developments of his time, particularly the progressive destruction and repression of the left that marked the period of the Cold War.
Art-As-Art: The Selected Writings of Ad Reinhardt by Ad Reinhardt, Ad Reinhardt is probably best known for his black paintings, which aroused as much controversy as admiration in the American art world when they were first exhibited in the 1950s. Although his ideas about art and life were often at odds with those of his contemporaries, they prefigured the ascendance of minimalism. Reinhardt's interest in the Orient and in religion, his strong convictions about the value of abstraction, and his disgust with the commercialism of the art world are as fresh and valid today as they were when he first expressed them.
Siegfried Idyll - The Siegfried Idyll, one of Richard Wagner's few non-operatic works, is a symphonic poem for chamber orchestra. Wagner composed it as a birthday present to his second wife, Cosima, after the birth of their son Siegfried in 1869. Siegfried Schtauffen - Siegfried Schtauffen is the main protagonist designed for the Soul Series of fighting games. Siegfried made his first appearance in Soul Edge(Soul Blade in North America) and has returned for Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur III. Ad Reinhardt - Adolph Dietrich Friedrich Reinhardt ("Ad" Reinhardt) (December 24, 1913–1967) was a painter, writer, and pioneer of conceptual and minimal art. He was also a critic of abstract expressionism. Siegfried Line - The original Siegfried line was a line of defensive forts and tank defenses built by Germany along their border with France in 1916-1917 during World War I. However, in English, Siegfried line more commonly refers to the similar World War II defensive line, built during the 1930s, opposite the French Maginot Line, which served a corresponding purpose.
